  you don't have to know much to talk to jw's and show them they don't want to really discuss the matters.they consider a discussion on the matter they are pushing to be "confrontational.".

  Actually,  check out the THIRD video from the same uploader,  a much more reasonable discussion is had with the 'handler'  once he agrees not to directly film him. Much more fruitful methinks.

  It saddens me that I can see myself in the first young jw (as of 20 years ago).  I always remember being rudely told at a door when offering a creation magazine "don't be so stupid,  get an education!".  How rude I thought.  But now I wish I'd done just that. 

  As for the video,  I know I wouldn't like to be filmed,  but they've got to expect that sort of thing since it's PUBLIC witnessing.  Didn't they start vetting who could go on the carts?  Maybe that just didn't work so they're just told to move on instead. 

  I feel sorry for the wasted years these kids have in front of them,  but I think the video is more about proving a point than trying to wake anybody up. (the point being,  most witnesses can't defend their faith very well at all).  If it was a secretly filmed video you could have the best of both worlds,  a real insight into the dumbassery of jw's,  and the opportunity to plant some seeds of doubt.

  I hate the way my mind jumps into 'apologetic' mode at the drop of a WT.

  I just put it down to 40 odd years of indoctrination.  It's like a well worn,  rutted path that my bike wheels keep slipping into. I'll forge a new path eventually.

  If he's a witness then I'm glad I'm not in his cong.  What a nutter!  I mean,  I admire his passion,  but there are ways and means of talking.  I wonder if he'd say these things to an atheist he met on the doors? 

  Calm down dude,   if you wanna discuss why you think we're wrong then DISCUSS,  make a point and invite discussion,  there's really no need to be a tit.

  i find that when talking people who say they "used to be a jehovah's witness" they say words that show they have in fact, never been one.

  it's like a man that worked for the post office for 30 years in a main major urban hub like chicago or new york... and you ask him, "in your last position, what was your rdo?

  " and the man says "whats an rdo?".

  I can assure you of my good standing within the JW's, and of a few others that I personally know on this board.

  Having read your recent posts and the manner in which they are written,  might I gently remind you that we are advised in the holy scriptures to be ready to make a defense for our faith with a quiet and mild spirit,  not accusatorily and insultingly.

  jehovah's witnesses believe that god sent humans to write the bible because his servants can relate better to humans since they are humans.

  i heard that at a meeting two weeks ago.

  it does not make sense to me at all but i do not know how to explain it.

  The bible was written by men. Fact.

  Cognitive bias tells you that the bible is from God,  so the FACT that it was written by men MUST be the best thing.  So we invent a reason WHY it must be the best thing. 

  
  

  Imagine if the boot was on the other foot.  The bible has been/claimed to be written by angels.  What would we all be commenting on at the meetings? Our  bias would tell us that since the bible is from God then that must be the best thing. We'd say that it's a good job he didn't get humans to write it all down,  it'd be full of errors and inconsistencies.  We'd say how could humans ever properly convey the grandeur and majesty of the heavenly visions of ezekiel and revelation? We'd slag off other holy books for being written by humans.  

  It's SPIN,  to support our BIAS.

  notice how they really start de-emphasizing this phrase in the few years before 1975 and for some years after.
